The Ulysses S. Grant Association and the U. S. Grant Presidential Library are pleased to announce the U. S. Grant Annual Membership meeting and the kickoff event for the Grant bicentennial year will be held March 3-5, 2022. While the U.S. Grant Annual Membership Meeting is typically an event for Grant Association members, this year as a part of the celebration of the birth of Grant in 1822, the Grant Annual Meeting will include events that are open and free to the public.
The public events (beginning at 9:30am on March 4 in Bettersworth Auditorium, Lee Hall) include the Opening Ceremony, a Tree Dedication and a Grant Scholars Symposium. The Opening Ceremony will include a keynote address by Mr. Stewart McLaurin, President of the White House Historical Association, and comments and remarks from Dr. John F. Marszalek, Executive Director, USGA; Chief Justice Frank J. Williams (Ret.) Rhode Island Supreme Court and President of the USGA; and Dr. Mark Keenum, President, Mississippi State University. This will be followed by a tree dedication ceremony on the drill field and a U. S. Grant Scholars Symposium (Bettersworth Auditorium, Lee Hall) featuring a distinguished panel of U. S. Grant and Civil War scholars who will discuss Grant, Grant scholarship and the significance of the bicentennial.
We hope the USGA Members and the general public will attend these events to celebrate the life of U. S. Grant. If you prefer to watch online or can't make it to the events, you can stream the Opening Ceremony live at https://vimeo.com/683986383, and the Symposium at https://vimeo.com/683987640.
Registration is not needed for the public events. Only those attending the full USGA Annual Membership meeting need to register. For a complete listing of events and to register for the USGA Annual Membership meeting, visit https://scholarsjunction.msstate.edu/us-grant-association-meeting/2022/.
